Roger worked with Wilson designers on the iconic Pro Staff. The specifications and construction are the exact same as the first generation of the Pro Staff RF97, but with a sleek matte black paint job with a unique texture that Federer requested to make the racquet easier to adjust in the hand. All of the racquet’s decals have been laser engraved into the frame.
The Pro Staff RF97 Autograph is updated for the rigours of the modern power game. It has the classic Pro Staff traits: head light balance, perimeter weighting system (PWS), braided graphite layup and thin beam, but with a larger head (97 square inches) for a larger sweet spot and easier access to power. Both things Roger was looking for in his new racquet.
Weighing in at 12 ounces unstrung, this is still very much a players racquet designed for advanced players that are taking big cuts at the ball. The hefty weight means this racquet is extremely stable from all areas of the court. Not surprisingly, it also has great feel.
